Camp Scholarships
Scouting should be accessible for every youth, and the East Carolina Council offers camp scholarships and campership opportunities to help make that happen. These programs provide financial support toward registration fees for a variety of camps and high adventure experiences — ensuring that cost isn’t a barrier to growth, learning, and outdoor adventure.
Francis E. Becker Eagle Scout Scholarship
This high-adventure campership helps eligible Eagle Scouts registered with the East Carolina Council cover registration costs for nationally accredited high adventure programs, including Philmont Scout Ranch, Northern Tier, Florida Sea Base, National and World Jamborees, and Pamlico Sea Base. Awards do not exceed registration fees and are based on available endowment funds and applicant numbers. Applications are due April 1 annually.
Dorothy and K. D. Kennedy Camp Scholarship
Open to any Scout registered in the East Carolina Council, this scholarship can assist with the cost of Cub Scout Day Camp, Cub Scout Resident Camp, Webelos Camp, Camp Boddie, or Pamlico Sea Base. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and involvement in Scouting, will not exceed the cost of the program registration, and are deducted from the amount the applicant pays. Applications are due by April 1 each year, with decisions made by May 1.
Croatan Lodge 117 Camperships
The Order of the Arrow’s campership program provides additional financial support to Scouts who might not otherwise be able to attend summer camp. These camperships are not scholarships and are limited in number — units should submit only those names truly in need of financial assistance. Units must be registered to attend camp for applications to be considered, and forms are due by April 1 each year (available through Croatan Lodge).
Fundraising Opportunities
Scouts can also earn funds toward nationally accredited high adventure programs by selling popcorn with a
30% commission (without prizes), with the commission going toward camp costs
